  1. Several months later.... how about that ending?

  2. Kelsier's brother coming back as an inquisitor and then betraying the rest of the inquisitors was the best double agent thing I've ever read.

    1. I couldn't help but be suspicious that they couldn't identify his face. But I'm also quite suspicious in books.

    2. It didn't occur to me to be suspicious at the time. I suppose that was at least open as a possibility, though.

    3. Probably influenced by watching an episode of a show not long ago where they used an already dead body that had had his face blown off to pretend it was some other dude.

  3. So, now I have two characters I call Cool Dude. Well, one of them is Other Cool Dude rofl (Elend and Marsh)

    1. I have vague mental impressions and references. Like to me cool dude was book cool dude. Now other cool dude is metal spike dark cool dude

  4. I kept expecting something to come up about the more frequent thieving raids going on that weren't part of the group.

    1. It did seem like they could've done some interesting things with that, but it just got brushed under the rug.

    2. Might have just been showing how they weren't the only group of resistance.

  5. Between the aging and the bracelets, I kinda saw the dude being a Feruchemist (yes, I looked up the word for this) coming.

    1. I suspected, but I still didn't fully anticipate it.

  6. I have a theory regarding what happened to all the stuffs that wasn't in the treasury, but I think two out of the three of you have read on, so...

    1. I would be extremely impressed if you're accurate.

    2. I assume you're talking about the Atium?

    3. I guessed Elend's family drained it, since they seemed to see the writing on the walls about house wars.

    4. It was mentioned alongside the fact the contract with the shapeshifting thing requires Atium so I'm wondering if there is some contract involved, a similar type setup with the other misty things the shapeshifting things are related to, or something else I apparently forgot while I was typing.

    5. Elend's family probably wouldn't have drained it since house wars or not, that would get on lord ruler's bad side like horrendously.

  7. The big, goopy shape-shifter things are weird.

    1. There's so much backstory to these..

    2. It sounded at first like they were dangerous. But IIRC, could they control the Kelsier phantom? So it isn't really all that dangerous.

    3. I kind of get the used to be human vibe. But not sure why. Might just be residual from other recent things where the big creepy monsters used to be human and you have to find that out.

    4. Jake, I think that the only control they have over him is in the form of a contract. So whether it's just an honor thing or some sort of magic contract binding, that's the extent of their control.

  8. Dude dying was sad, but his plan was pretty good.

    1. Took a lot of faith in his crew.

    2. Kelsier? Do you really think he's dead?

      Delete
    3. I heard other references to the fact he died before I finished the book. Besides, this death had a lot fewer holes than the brother's.

      Delete
    4. I questioned his death when I finished the first book.

    5. Technically, the references I heard could have been just within that book itself, but like I said, it had a lot fewer possibilities of coming up faked

    6. Unless he was a shapeshifter dude the entire time pretending to be the man from the pits and he wasn't the same one that was playing the rich guy.

  9. Vin may be the more skillful mistborn, but Kelsier is cooler.

    1. He is. Who knows, she may become cooler.

    2. I'm open to the possibility. I don't dislike her.

  10. I wasn't sure if Elend becoming all obsessed over chick by the end was normal, but I guess when everything is chaotic is when you'd focus on someone you like and keeping them safe more. I did keep getting interrupted while reading like every paragraph or two for a bit in the chaos stuff so that may have also influenced my feelings.

    1. Elend becomes a main character, along with Vin, in the next two books.

  11. I thought it was kind of sweet that she got to find out her brother really did care

    1. Gotta have a sappy resolution there. I honestly expected Vin to eventually rebel against Kelsier's team and go AWOL or something.

  12. I had expected something about the Inquisitors wouldn't be able to fight well because they had become exhausted, not oh dude killed them all. Probably for the best.

    1. Seems like a suspiciously glaring weakness, though. The whole.... pull the stake out of the back and they die.

    2. It's not like anyone really knew about it. They kept stuff like that pretty secret.

  13. I kind of wonder what everyone was thinking when Vin attacked the past form of the dude. Were they like, umm... he's over here...

    1. Ha, I never considered that. Must look super weird to people not flaring.... whatever the metal was.

    2. I anticipated a more psychological chat type battle of yeah dude, you did what you didn't want to do and went all evil. But definitely not complaining about the route of yeah he isn't the same dude.

  14. So, every time Sazed comes up, I think of him as wearing light green and kind of like a guado from FFX. Does not match the description at all aside from being long-limbed

    1. I never considered, but yeah, Sazed is very Guado-esque.
