The kingdom seems to operate with reasonable efficiency. They probably have workers to replace those. Maybe. Or maybe there are lots of bricks missing.
If it's that important to guard, I don't doubt it. Plus, I can't figure that Kelsier and co. didn't really telegraph the move much. Nobody should have known.
I mean in this case, I don't think he told anyone except for her after she followed him and insisted, so unless someone was listening and alerted people really quickly, or someone saw they were coming and placed the guards, I'm thinking there's just always dudes there.
I thought that the duality between the inquisitors and the judges (I think) seemed to parallel the checks and balances of the US government. They each do their jobs individually, but effectively protect each other and ensure the system operates as intended.
Weren't the dudes who almost killed them the ones with the stakes in their eyes? Does anyone remember if it was ever mentioned whether or not they showed on the blue lines?
I think metal that is within your person doesn't show up on blue lines. I know connected metal isn't affected by pushing or pulling. Not sure if the other properties are affected.
I liked the dude with the book
ReplyDeleteI will admit I kept thinking that the shadow she kept seeing was Kelsier and not one of the bad guys.
ReplyDeleteI had that idea as well, and I think that may have been the goal. Give a false sense of security, so you underestimate the threat you can't see.
DeleteTechnically she thought it was a threat, and it turned out not to be a threat after all as far as we know.
DeleteI expect someone will notice that she never did return that brick to the road

DeleteI suspect that there are just always a couple of those Inquisitor dudes in that little room

ReplyDeleteSeeing the predict the future metal in action, used with intent to kill by both parties, was really cool and exciting.
ReplyDeleteI do like how it has the disadvantage of if your opponent is using it also it's less helpful and maybe even an added distraction.
